Preparation of anionic polymer-coated polyplexes. In A, cationic polyplexes were prepared with mixing of plasmid DNA (pDNA) or small interfering RNA (siRNA) with cationic polymers, and then they were coated with anionic polymer by electrostatic interactions. In B, anionic polymer-cationic polymer conjugates interacted electrostatically with pDNA or siRNA. In C, anionic polymer-siRNA conjugates or anionic polymer-antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) conjugates via a reducible disulfide linkage interacted electrostatically with cationic polymers.
